In 1997, a giant-sized figure traced out of painted white rocks appeared overnight on the side of a mountain in Bahia Concepcion, a remote region of Baja California. The message and the origin were a mystery: is this the work of ghosts or extraterrestrials? a miraculous apparition? artistic genius or eco-terrorism? As more nature-inspired “drawings” appear over the years, rumors spread with varying explanations, including that of a secret community sending a message to the world, inspired by the graceful movements of the Baja California’s migrating whales pictured on the beaches. In this documentary-esque exploration of truth, artistic ancestry, and sublime landscapes, an investigative journalist and a reclusive poet offer opposing theories and testimonies.

En 1997 una figura gigante, dibujada con rocas pintadas de blanco aparecio de la noche a la manana en una ladera de una montana en Bahia Concepcion, una region remota en Baja California, Mexico. El mensaje es un misterio: es este el trabajo de algun ser sobrenatural? o de extraterrestres? una aparicion milagrosa? genio artistico? eco-terrorismo? Cuando mas dibujos espontaneos aparecen durante un periodo de varios anos, los rumores se extienden con diferentes explicaciones, incluyendo la que cree que una comunidad secreta esta tratando de enviar un mensaje al mundo a traves de los elegantes movimientos de las ballenas migratorias de Baja California que aparecen en las playas. En este casi documental que intenta la exploracion de la verdad, la herencia artistica con un fondo de paisajes sublimes, un periodista investigador y un poeta recluso ofrecen testimonios y teorias opuestas.
