This film is an intimate portrait of a Bolivian mother who chooses to work in Israel, leaving her children behind in hopes of providing them with a better life. Examining the bond between mother and child and what it means to sacrifice everything in order to provide economic stability, A Working Mom chronicles the aftermath of a family living apart for over 15 years. When Marisa returns to Bolivia, she struggles to recognize her children and her country and longs for her days in Tel Aviv. There, she felt a sense of independence that she no longer feels in her hometown. Meanwhile, her children struggle to understand her reasons for leaving and resent her absence. The search for a prosperous life takes its toll on this family as they deal with questions of cultural reintegration, material wealth and what it really means to be a parent. 

 

Esta pelicula es un retrato intimo de una madre boliviana que escoge trabajar en Israel, dejando atras a sus hijos con la esperanza de proveerles con una vida mejor. El film examina los lazos entre madre e hijos, lo que significa sacrificarlo todo para darles estabilidad economica y las consecuencias emocionales en una familia que ha vivido separada por mas de 15 anos. Cuando Marisa vuelve a Bolivia, le cuesta reconocer a sus hijos y su patria y anora sus dias en Tel Aviv. Alli, ella sentia un sentido de independencia que ya no siente en su pueblo natal. Entretanto, sus hijos luchan para comprender sus razones por dejarlos y resienten su ausencia. La busqueda por una vida mas prospera hace sufrir a esta familia que se esfuerza lidiando con  problemas de reintegracion cultural, valores materiales y lo que quiere decir ser una madre.
