In this very moving documentary, Carmen Castillo presents a portrait of Chile from the 1970s through the present day as she and her country strive to come to terms with the horrible effects of the Pinochet dictatorship. After the bloody coup of September 11, 1973, that overthrew Salvador Allende, Carmen and her husband Miguel Enriquez went underground, but were found and taken into custody a year later. Miguel was killed while Carmen was wounded and left to die. Several decades later, Carmen returns from her exile in France and visits the neighborhoods where she once lived and the house where she was arrested. Her film alternates between the personal story of her homecoming, and a desire to honor her fallen friends Footage from the past four decades gives background to the stories of Carmen and other survivors, as they rethink the past with a mix of anger, nostalgia, and pride.
En este conmovedor documental, la cineasta Carmen Castillo presenta un retrato de Chile desde los setenta hasta la actualidad mientras ella y su pais se esfuerzan por comprender los horribles efectos de la dictadura de Pinochet. Despues del sangriento golpe del 11 de septiembre de 1973, que derroco a Salvador Allende, Carmen y su esposo Miguel Enriquez pasaron a la clandestinidad, pero un ano despues fueron detenidos. Mataron a Miguel mientras hirieron y dejaron por muerta a Carmen. Varias decadas despues, Carmen vuelve de su exilio en Francia y visita los barrios donde una vez vivio y la casa donde fue arrestada. Su film alterna entre la historia personal de su regreso a Chile y su deseo de honrar sus amigos que cayeron. Los materiales de archivo conteniendo imagenes de mas de cuatro decadas proveen el transfondo en el cual las historias de Carmen y otros sobrevivientes de la represion se van entretejiendo con una mezcla de rencor, nostalgia y orgullo.
